Today felt like experimenting after seeing all that French collagen dessert hype. Grabbed some ingredients hoping it’d be good for my skin.

Making This Supposedly Skin-Boosting Dessert

First thing this morning, I hit the grocery store. Needed gelatin powder – that’s the collagen stuff – plus milk, heavy cream, vanilla, and whatever fruits looked good. Didn’t wanna go fancy chef mode, just simple.

Got home and started:

  • Sprinkled plain gelatin powder over cold water like the packet said. Let that lump sit for 5 minutes until it went all spongy.
  • Heated up milk and heavy cream in my old pan – medium heat, nothing crazy. Stirred in vanilla and a tiny bit of sugar for taste.
  • Dumped that weird gelatin blob into the warm milk mix. Kept stirring like mad until the clumps totally vanished. Couldn’t feel any gritty bits left.
  • Poured the smooth liquid into my little dessert cups. Let ’em cool on the counter first for about 20 minutes, then shoved ’em in the fridge. Went back after maybe 4 hours – total wobbly jelly success!
  • Slapped some sliced strawberries on top. Done!

Taste verdict? Actually pretty decent! Sweet, creamy, a bit like panna cotta.

Skin Stuff While Dessert Chilled

While those desserts were getting cold, my mind wandered to skincare. Specifically, my eye area. Saw myself in the bathroom mirror under that awful light and thought, dang, those tired lines got deeper.

I’ve always kinda side-eyed eye cream. Felt like just pricier face lotion? But everyone screams about it glowing up your skin.

Had this little jar of eye cream buried in the back of my drawer – bought it on sale ages ago. Figured, whatever, gave it a shot.

Squeezed a tiny dot on my ring finger. Gently patted it in, way out to the corners. Used that finger cause it’s weakest, so less tugging. Felt cool? Smooth? Honestly not mind-blowing at first application. Skepticism level stayed high.

Putting Two and Two Together & The Weird Result

Made the connection halfway through my dessert. Collagen inside, eye cream outside. Maybe they’re a tag team?

Been doing this for over a month now: Dessert most evenings (easy habit when it’s yummy!), plus the eye cream ritual morning and night without fail.

Surprise surprise – couple weeks ago started noticing something. Not a massive miracle, obviously. But when I look close? Those little lines near my eyes look… softer? Less like they’re dug in deep. Skin feels smoother when I touch it.

The biggest shocker? My complexion overall. Looks kinda… healthier? More rested? Like I slept extra hour or something. Could be the collagen inside helping build stuff up while the eye cream just keeps the surface super hydrated and protected. Teamwork!

Final take? Dessert tastes great. Eye cream routine finally feels worth it seeing those faint lines back off a bit. Combined? Feels like my skin’s actually getting some real TLC from both sides. Keeping this combo going, for sure.
