Ain’t nothin’ fancy ’bout it, but it’ll do the trick if you’re needin’ somethin’ sweet and quick. Now, I don’t claim these are exactly like the store-bought ones, but they sure do come close. And you don’t gotta spend a whole lotta money neither. Just a few ingredients, a bit of time, and you’ll be sittin’ pretty with your own little Debbie copycat treat.

Little Debbie Copycat Recipes

Now, I’ll start with one of the most popular ones—those Oatmeal Cream Pies. Everybody loves ’em, but they ain’t the healthiest snack, lemme tell ya. Just one little pie packs a whole lotta calories, and trust me, I’m not one to count them, but it’s somethin’ to keep in mind. But for a treat now and then, why not? You just need a few ingredients to make your own version at home.

Homemade Oatmeal Cream Pies

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups quick oats
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 jar of marshmallow fluff
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Now, here’s how you make ‘em. First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Then, in a big ol’ bowl, mix up the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set that aside. In another bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar till it’s nice and smooth. Then, add in them eggs, one at a time, stirrin’ it all together. After that, throw in your oats and vanilla, and mix it good. Now, slowly fold in your dry ingredients till it all comes together in a nice dough.

Now, for bakin’ time. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and give ‘em a little space. Bake ‘em for about 8 to 10 minutes, but watch ’em close ‘cause you don’t want ‘em burnin’. Once they’re done, let ‘em cool off for a few minutes on the sheet, then transfer ’em to a wire rack to cool completely.

While they cool, make your cream filling. Just mix up the marshmallow fluff with powdered sugar till it’s smooth. Once them cookies are cool enough to handle, spread that fluff on one cookie, then top it with another to make a nice little sandwich. There you have it—your very own homemade Oatmeal Cream Pies. I’ll tell ya, they taste just as good as them store-bought ones, and you made ’em with your own hands!

Well now, Oatmeal Cream Pies are mighty good, but maybe you’re hankerin’ for somethin’ else. Don’t worry, I got you covered. Let’s talk about them Fudge Rounds—they’re real popular too, especially with the kiddos. I’ve seen ’em all over the place, and I reckon makin’ ’em yourself ain’t all that hard.

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 jar of chocolate frosting
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional)

Start off by preheatin’ your oven to 350°F (175°C). Then, in a big ol’ bowl, mix up that cake mix with the egg, oil, and water. Stir it real good till it’s all smooth. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto a baking sheet and bake ’em for about 8 to 10 minutes, just like the oatmeal pies. When they come out, let ’em cool down before you put the frosting in between two of ’em. Just spread that frosting on one cookie, and top it with another. If you want, dust a lil’ powdered sugar on top to make ‘em look fancy. There you go—a homemade Fudge Round!

Zebra Cakes and Swiss Rolls

Now, I ain’t forgettin’ them Zebra Cakes and Swiss Rolls. I know, I know, they’re a favorite of many, but truth be told, they ain’t all that hard to make either, if you got a bit of time. For Zebra Cakes, you need a little bit of cake mix, some vanilla frosting, and chocolate for the stripes. Swiss Rolls are a bit like them Fudge Rounds, but rolled up with a creamy center. Don’t forget to make ‘em tight so the cream don’t spill out. It’s just that easy—cake, frosting, and a bit of chocolate drizzlin’ over the top.

Why Make Your Own?

Now, you might be wonderin’ why in the world would you make your own when you can just run to the store and grab ‘em. Well, there’s a couple of reasons. First off, you can save yourself some money, ‘cause let me tell ya, them store-bought ones ain’t cheap. Plus, you get to control what goes into your snacks. No preservatives, no funny business, just good ol’ homemade goodness. And don’t forget—it’s fun! Makes for a nice little afternoon in the kitchen with the grandkids, if you ask me.
