You know, making that mrs wages pasta sauce copycat recipe, it ain’t as hard as shelling peas. I remember the first time I tried that Mrs. Wages stuff, oh boy, it was tasty. But buying those packets, it’s like buying a pig in a poke, you never know what is in those packets. So I thought, why not make it myself? It’s just some spices and whatnot. And when you have so many tomatoes from your garden, this is a good thing to do with them.

Mrs. Wages Pasta Sauce Copycat Recipe: Get That Classic Flavor Without a Jar

First off, you gotta have good tomatoes. Not those pale, sad things from the store. I mean the real, juicy, red ones, fresh from the garden or the farmer’s market. Those are the best. Then, you need some onions, garlic, the usual suspects. I just chop them all up. Don’t need to be fancy, just get ’em in there.

  • Tomatoes, lots of ’em
  • Onions, a couple big ones
  • Garlic, a whole head maybe
  • Some salt, gotta have salt

Now, the secret to this mrs wages pasta sauce copycat recipe, it’s in the spices. I figured it out after a few tries. It’s like, you need a pinch of this, a dash of that. They say there is some food starch, some maltodextrin, but I don’t even know what these things are. I just use what I have in my kitchen.

I throw in some oregano, that’s a must. Then some basil, because why not? And a little bit of that red pepper, not too much, just enough to give it a kick. You can also throw in a little bit of sugar. You don’t want your sauce to be too sour.

After you chop the onions and garlic, you need to cook them in a pot with some oil. You want to make them soft, but not brown. Then you just add the tomatoes. And you need to cook it for a long long time. You need to stir it sometimes, or it will stick to the pot.

  • Oregano, that’s important
  • Basil, if you got it
  • Red pepper, just a pinch
  • Salt and pepper, to your taste, honey.

The most important is the tomatoes. Good tomatoes make good sauce. And you can use this sauce to make spaghetti. But you can use it for other things too.

I like to simmer it all low and slow. Let those flavors get to know each other, you know? Just keep an eye on it, stir it now and then. It takes a while, but good things do. And the smell, oh, it fills the whole house. Makes your mouth water, that’s for sure. Cook it until the sauce gets thick. Not too thick, not too thin. You know, just right. You don’t want to make it too thick, or it will be like that tomato paste. Yuck!

And when it’s done, you can eat it right away. Or, if you’re like me, you can put it in jars. That way, you can have a taste of summer in the middle of winter. Nothing beats that, I tell ya. And it is so much better than the one you buy from the store. You know exactly what is in it. Tomatoes, onions, garlic, and some spices. No strange things you can’t even pronounce.

Canning, that’s another story. But it ain’t rocket science either. Just gotta make sure those jars are clean and hot. Then pour in the sauce, leave a little space at the top. Put on the lids, and boil ’em in water for a bit. Just follow the instructions, you’ll be fine. I’ve been doing it for years, ain’t lost a jar yet!

This mrs wages pasta sauce copycat recipe, it is really good. You can use it on your spaghetti, on your pizza, whatever you want. I even put it on my eggs sometimes. It is so good, you will want to put it on everything. And it is easy to make. Easier than making bread, I tell you that.

So, there you have it. My take on that mrs wages pasta sauce copycat recipe. It’s simple, it’s tasty, and it’s way better than those store-bought packets. Plus, you know what’s in it. No mystery ingredients. Just good, honest food. Give it a try, you won’t regret it. And tell me how it turns out, alright?

And if you are too lazy to do all that, you can still buy those Mrs. Wages packets. I won’t judge you. But you will miss out on a very good sauce.
