Okay, so I made some fish sticks the other day, you know, the usual frozen kind. Nothing fancy, but I wanted to make a decent meal out of it, so I started thinking, “What can I serve with these?”

Elevate Your Fish Sticks:Yummy Side Dishes That Will Make Dinner a Hit!

First off, I baked some sweet potato fries. I just sliced some sweet potatoes, tossed them with a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper, and popped them in the oven alongside the fish sticks. Super easy, and they turned out pretty good—nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.

Then, I whipped up a quick coleslaw. I grabbed a bag of pre-shredded cabbage mix from the fridge, mixed it with some mayo, a splash of vinegar, a pinch of sugar, and a bit of salt and pepper. I also had some leftover quinoa, so I tossed that in with some chopped avocado and a squeeze of lime juice. It added a nice, healthy touch to the meal.

  • Sweet potato fries: sliced, seasoned, and baked.
  • Coleslaw: shredded cabbage, mayo, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper.
  • Avocado quinoa: cooked quinoa, avocado, lime juice.

I also thought about making some hush puppies, ’cause those are always a hit, but I was feeling a bit lazy. Maybe next time. I did make a simple side salad, though. Just some mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber with a basic vinaigrette.

While everything was cooking, I started wondering if fish sticks are actually good for you. I mean, they’re not exactly a health food, right? But then I remembered reading somewhere that they’re a decent source of protein and healthy fats. Plus, they’re usually low in mercury, which is a good thing. So, I guess they’re not the worst thing you could eat.

The Outcome

Anyway, the whole meal came together pretty nicely. The fish sticks were crispy, the sweet potato fries were a hit, and the coleslaw and salad added some freshness. Even the avocado quinoa was a nice touch. It was a simple, but satisfying dinner. And it got me thinking about other sides I could make next time. Maybe some homemade soup or even just plain rice. The possibilities are endless!
