Okay, let’s talk about this 5-ingredient crockpot sausage and potato thing I whipped up. Super easy, really.

Getting Started
First thing, I had to gather up my stuff. Wasn’t much, which is the whole point, right? Just five things needed.
- Some Italian sausage links – I just used a standard pack.
- Potatoes – grabbed a few medium-sized ones, maybe like 4 or 5.
- A jar of spaghetti sauce – whatever kind you like, doesn’t really matter.
- Some chicken stock – just needed a bit, maybe half a cup? Didn’t measure exactly.
- An onion – always gotta have onion, adds good flavor.
That’s it. See? Simple.
Prepping the Goods
Alright, so I got to work. Chopped up the potatoes into chunks, maybe like 1-inch pieces? Didn’t want them too small or they’d turn to mush. Left the skins on ’cause I’m lazy and it adds texture.
Then, I chopped up that onion. Just a rough chop, nothing fancy. Didn’t bother browning the sausage beforehand, wanted this to be a real dump-and-go kind of meal.
Loading the Crockpot
Next, I grabbed my trusty crockpot. Dumped the chopped potatoes and onion right in the bottom. Spread them out a little bit.
Then, I poured that jar of spaghetti sauce over the potatoes and onions. Tried to get it somewhat even. After that, I poured in that bit of chicken stock. Just enough to add some moisture, you know?
Finally, I laid the Italian sausage links right on top of everything. Just nestled them in there.

Cooking Time
This is the easy part. Put the lid on the crockpot. Plugged it in. Set it to HIGH.
Then I just walked away. Let it do its thing. I checked on it around the 3-hour mark. The smell was starting to get really good by then.
Needed a bit longer, though. The potatoes weren’t quite fork-tender yet. I let it go for probably another hour, so about 4 hours total on high.
The Result
After 4 hours, I checked again. Stuck a fork in a potato chunk – slid right in. Perfect. The sausages were definitely cooked through, looking juicy.
Scooped it out into bowls. The potatoes were soft, soaked up that sauce flavor. Sausages were tender. It wasn’t gourmet, but for 5 ingredients and barely any work? Definitely a win. Good, hearty meal.
