My Prep Day Experience
So tomorrow’s the big day – getting these annoying wisdom teeth ripped out. Doc gave me the clear instructions: gotta eat soft stuff only the day before, nothing crunchy, chewy, or anything that might leave bits behind. Started thinking about it as soon as I woke up.
Made myself some smooth scrambled eggs for breakfast. Kept ’em super soft, barely any browning. Dumped some salt and pepper on top, that’s it. Ate ’em slow, knowing chewing would be a luxury soon. Drank a big glass of cold apple juice alongside – nice and soothing.
Lunchtime rolled around, needed something more substantial but still safe. Blended a ripe banana into plain, full-fat Greek yogurt. Added a drizzle of honey because that yogurt is tangy! Mixed it all up into a super smooth mush. Felt pretty satisfied actually. Also chugged a huge bottle of water – hydration is key they say.
Afternoon snack hit me. Reached for some pineapple juice straight out the fridge. Read somewhere pineapple juice has stuff that might help with swelling, so figured why not give it a shot. Poured a big glass, drank it cold. Felt refreshing.
Started dinner prep early, around 5 PM. Wanted to eat well before the cut-off time. Cooked up some instant mashed potatoes. Didn’t skimp on the milk and butter to keep ’em creamy smooth. Heated up a can of plain chicken broth to go with it. Poured the steaming broth right into a mug. Dinner was basically a giant bowl of lukewarm, buttery potato mush and sipping hot broth. Filling enough!
Found a container of vanilla ice cream lurking in the freezer around 8 PM. Thought, “Hey, perfect timing.” Let it sit out for a few minutes to soften up good. Scooped a generous portion into a bowl. Ate it slowly, savouring the cold sweetness. That was my treat.
Right before the official “no more eating or drinking” deadline at midnight, I had one last prep task. Pulled out the blender. Threw in a couple scoops of that same vanilla ice cream, dumped in some milk, and tossed in another ripe banana. Whizzed it all up into a thick, super smooth milkshake. Poured it into a big plastic cup with a solid lid and a reusable straw. Stuck it right in the freezer. That’s my plan for after surgery when I’m all numb and gross – something icy cold and easy to sip without chewing.
Also filled a huge water bottle and left it on my nightstand. Doc said cold water is good after, so it’ll be right there ready. Pretty confident I got the soft and liquid bases covered. Just hope the recovery ain’t too gnarly!
