So, I got this idea in my head the other day about Deans Seafood. Haven’t been there in what feels like forever. The wife and kids were around, weather was decent, so I figured, why not? Packed everyone into the car and decided to make the trip over there last weekend.

Getting there was easy enough. Place hasn’t changed much, which I kinda liked. Still got that old-school vibe, you know? Not trying too hard to be something it’s not. We walked in, found ourselves a booth pretty quick. It was busy-ish, but not crazy packed. Just a regular Saturday crowd, families and older folks mostly.
The menu is straightforward. Lots of fried stuff, grilled options too, but let’s be real, you kinda go there for the fried seafood experience, right? At least I do. We decided to get one of those big platters to share – had a bit of everything on it. Plus some extra fries for the kids, they always demolish the fries first.
The Food Experience
Okay, so the food came out pretty fast. Waitress was hustling. The platter was massive, seriously loaded up.
- Shrimp were decent, good size, fried just right.
- Flounder was flaky, tasted fresh. Maybe a touch greasy, but hey, it’s fried fish.
- Oysters were there. I ate ’em. They were fine.
- The hush puppies were honestly great. Crispy outside, soft inside. Kids couldn’t get enough.
We just sat there, eating and talking. It wasn’t fancy dining. It was just… comfortable. Paper napkins, plastic baskets for the food, squeeze bottles of tartar sauce and ketchup on the table. Simple stuff. Felt good to just have a normal meal out without any fuss.
We finished up, paid the bill – pretty reasonable price for the amount of food we got. Left feeling stuffed, properly full. It’s not gonna win any Michelin stars, but that’s not the point of a place like Deans. It’s reliable, it’s got that classic seafood shack feel, and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. Yeah, I’ll probably head back again sooner rather than later. It just works.
