Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “melo melo” drink everywhere, and it looked so refreshing, I just had to try making it at home. I’m all about saving a few bucks and, honestly, it’s fun playing around in the kitchen.

Gathering My Stuff
First things first, I needed to figure out what even goes into this thing. After a quick look around online, it seemed like the main players were:
- Cantaloupe: This is the star of the show, obviously.
- Milk: Some recipes used regular milk, others used coconut milk. I decided to grab both to experiment.
- Sweetener: Sugar, honey, or even condensed milk seemed to be the go-to options. I went with regular sugar for this first attempt.
- Ice: Gotta have that frosty goodness.
The Experiment Begins!
I started by chopping up about half a cantaloupe. I made sure to scoop out all the seeds and cut it into chunks that my blender could handle. Seriously, don’t want to burn out the motor on day one!
Then, I tossed the cantaloupe into my blender, added about a cup of regular milk, a couple of tablespoons of sugar, and a handful of ice. I blended it all up until it was super smooth and creamy. Time for a taste test!
It was good, but a little… bland? I felt like it needed a bit more sweetness and maybe a richer flavor. So, I added another tablespoon of sugar and a splash of the coconut milk. Blended again, and… much better! The coconut milk added a nice subtle sweetness and creaminess that really elevated it.
Tweaking and Tasting
I poured myself a glass and sipped it slowly, trying to figure out if anything was still missing. It was definitely close to what I remembered tasting before, but maybe a tiny bit more cantaloupe flavor would be perfect. Next time, I’ll probably use more cantaloupe, maybe even 3/4 of it.
I also want to play with other sweetner the next time I make it.
Final Thoughts (For Now!)
Overall, I’m pretty happy with how my first attempt at a melo melo copycat turned out! It’s definitely refreshing and delicious, and way cheaper than buying it every time. I’m already thinking about my next batch – maybe I’ll try it with honey, or even a little bit of vanilla extract. This could become a new summer staple!
