You know what? I heard some fancy folks talkin’ ’bout them self heating meals. Sounds like some kinda magic, I tell ya. You just pour some water in, and poof! Hot food! No need for a stove or nothin’. Back in my day, we had to build a fire for everything!

These newfangled things, they call ’em self heating meals, they’re good for folks always on the go. Like them truck drivers, or them hikers climbin’ up mountains. No need to stop and make a fire, just eat wherever you are. It’s like somethin’ outta one of them space movies.

They say it’s easy peasy. Just gotta add water to this little baggie thing. Inside got some kinda powder…mag…magnesium, iron, and salt, all mixed up. Don’t ask me how it works, just some kinda science stuff. I ain’t no scientist. I just know it gets hot real quick. Like magic, I tell ya! You put your food pouch in there, wait a bit, and bam! Hot grub. This make it good for camping too.

Now, I heard some folks sayin’ these things are better for you than them old MREs. Them MREs, the army folks eat ’em. These new ones, they got less of that bad stuff. Less salt and fat and all that. My grandson, he’s in the army, he tells me all ’bout it. Says these are better for regular folks, not just soldiers. Less of that sodium stuff too, 40% to 60% less than MREs they call it.

  • Less salt
  • Less fat
  • Good for you, they say
  • No need for fire or stove.

Now, they say you gotta be careful with these things. Don’t use ’em inside where there ain’t no fresh air. They make some kinda gas when they heat up, carbon monoxide or somethin’ like that. Not good to breathe that stuff. So, use ’em outside, like when you’re campin’ or somethin’.

These self heating meals, they come in all sorts of flavors too. Not just that old beef stew we used to have. Now they got chicken and noodles, and even that fancy pasta stuff. Somethin’ for everyone, I guess.

Me, I still like my old cast iron skillet. But I can see why folks like these new things. Quick and easy, no fuss. Just add water, and you got yourself a hot meal. No need to worry about buildin’ a fire or findin’ a plug. These self heating meals are good for hiking, camping, and any other outdoor activity. Even just work if you don’t want to use microwave. But for me I like to stay home and cook myself.

Back in my day, we didn’t have none of this fancy stuff. We had to cook everything from scratch. And we liked it that way! But times are changin’, I guess. These young folks, they want everything fast and easy. These self heating meals, they’re just another sign of the times, I reckon.

I remember one time, my old man, he went huntin’ up in the mountains. Took him a whole day just to get to his spot. And then he had to build a fire, cook his food, the whole nine yards. Took forever! With these new self heating meals, he coulda just poured some water in a bag and had a hot meal in minutes. Save him a whole lot of trouble.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a quick and easy meal, these self heating meals might be just the thing. No need for a stove, no need for a fire, just add water. It’s like magic, I tell ya! But you need to be careful, don’t use it inside, it will make you sick! So use it outdoor. Just remember what I said about that gas. Gotta be careful with these newfangled things.

I reckon these things are here to stay. They’re just too darn convenient. And folks these days, they love convenient. Me, I’ll stick to my old ways. But I can see the appeal of these self heating meals. They are good if you are in a hurry or go out to have fun. Just don’t forget to add the water! That’s the magic ingredient, you know.
