Now, if you’re like me, you know how important it is to have a good cup to hold your soup, especially when you’re just trying to get something warm in your belly on a cold day. We ain’t got time for no fancy dishes, right? A soup mug does the job just fine, and it don’t need to be anything special. But let me tell ya, if you’re lookin’ to buy a soup mug, there’s a few things you might wanna think about before you pick one up. I’ve seen all kinds of them around, so here’s a little talk about what I’ve found over the years.

Top Soup Mugs for Every Meal – Stylish & Practical Options

First off, what’s a soup mug, anyway?

Well, it’s just a big ol’ mug that’s deep enough to hold soup in, and it’s got handles on the side, so you don’t burn your hands holdin’ it. You know, when you’ve got that hot broth just steamin’ up, and you need something to grab that won’t make your fingers ache. Now, don’t go thinkin’ all soup mugs are the same – oh no, they come in all shapes and sizes. Some of ’em even come with lids, so your soup don’t spill all over the place if you’re transportin’ it from the kitchen to the table. I reckon that’s real handy, especially if you’re makin’ a mess with the broth!

What to look for when buyin’ a soup mug:

  • Size matters: You want something that’ll hold enough soup to fill you up, but not too much that it’s like you’re drinkin’ a whole pot of it. 320cc is a good size for a normal cup of soup. Not too big, not too small, just right!
  • Material: These mugs can be made outta all sorts of things. Some are ceramic, some are made from plastic or even wood. Personally, I like the ones made from ceramic ‘cause they keep the soup hot for longer. But if you’re worried about breakin’ it, you might wanna go with somethin’ a little tougher, like that melamine stuff. Ain’t as fancy, but it gets the job done.
  • Handles: Now this is important – you need a good handle on that mug! Ain’t nothin’ worse than tryin’ to sip hot soup and your hand slips right off that handle. You need somethin’ that fits your hand just right. Big mugs need big handles, little ones, little handles. Ain’t no rocket science here, just use your common sense!
  • Design: Some folks like their mugs all fancy and decorated, others don’t care much for that. Me, I just want somethin’ simple. Plain white, or maybe a nice color like red or blue. I’ve seen some with flowers, some with little animals, but I reckon it don’t matter too much as long as the soup tastes good!

Where to find good soup mugs?

If you’re lookin’ for a good soup mug, you can find ’em all over the place. Now, don’t be goin’ to no high-end store where they’re sellin’ mugs for more than you’d pay for a week’s worth of groceries. No, you’re better off at places like eBay, Amazon, or even those chain stores like Walmart. I’ve picked up a few decent ones over the years at places like that. Some of ’em come in a set, too, which is real nice if you’ve got a big family or you just like to have a lot of mugs on hand. You can even get sets with matching plates and bowls if that’s the kind of thing that floats your boat.

Different Types of Soup Mugs:

  • Classic Soup Mugs: These are just your regular mugs with a little extra depth. Ain’t too fancy, but they do the job.
  • Travel Soup Mugs: If you’re like me and you don’t always eat your soup at home, you can get a travel-friendly mug. They got lids and everything, so you can sip your soup while you’re out and about. Real convenient, I tell ya!
  • Fancy Soup Bowls: Now, if you like your soup a little more refined, you might want to go with a soup bowl that’s got a fancy design. I’ve seen some really nice ones from Japan, like that Kinto set. Ain’t cheap, but boy, they sure look good on the table!

Best Time to Use a Soup Mug:

Now, don’t get me wrong, soup mugs ain’t just for lunch. You can use ’em any time of day. Mornings, when you’re havin’ a quick breakfast, you can make you a nice little cup of creamy soup to go with your toast. Or lunchtime, when you’re needin’ somethin’ warm to get you through the day. And of course, dinner time, when you just want a small side of soup to go with your meal. Ain’t nothin’ better than a warm mug of soup on a chilly night. Trust me on that one!

Conclusion:

So, whether you’re buyin’ your first soup mug or you’ve got a whole cupboard full of ’em, just remember to keep it simple. Find a mug that fits your needs, whether it’s big, small, fancy or plain. A good soup mug can make all the difference when you’re sittin’ down to a nice bowl of homemade soup. Don’t overthink it too much, just find one that works for you, and you’ll be good to go!
