Alright, let me tell you about my “Breakfast in Waikiki” adventure. It wasn’t some fancy, planned-out thing, just a spur-of-the-moment craving that turned into a pretty chill morning.

It all started with me waking up way earlier than I intended. Like, 6 AM early. Ugh. Couldn’t fall back asleep, so my brain immediately jumped to “food.” And not just any food, but something vacation-y. Waikiki popped into my head – don’t ask me why, I haven’t been there in ages. But the thought of a breezy, sunny breakfast near the beach? Sold!
So, I jumped out of bed, threw on some shorts and a t-shirt, and hopped in the car. I didn’t even bother making coffee at home. The plan was simple: find a decent breakfast spot in Waikiki, grab some food, and maybe take a walk on the beach. Pure, unadulterated chill.
The drive wasn’t too bad, even though it was early rush hour. I cranked up some music and just enjoyed the ride. Once I got to Waikiki, I spent a good 15 minutes circling around trying to find parking. Seriously, parking in Waikiki is a nightmare, even at 7 AM. Finally, I spotted a spot a few blocks away from the main drag and snagged it.
I then started my breakfast quest. I didn’t have any specific place in mind, just walked around, peering into different cafes and restaurants. Lots of places were either closed or looked super touristy, you know, the kind with overpriced pancakes and fake pineapple decorations. I was aiming for something more local, more authentic.
Finally, I stumbled upon this little hole-in-the-wall cafe tucked away on a side street. It was called “Island Brew Coffeehouse”. Nothing fancy, just a few tables inside and a small counter. The smell of coffee and fresh pastries wafted out, and I knew I was in the right place.
I walked in and ordered a Kona coffee (of course!) and a breakfast sandwich. It was a simple sandwich – eggs, cheese, and bacon on a toasted roll – but it was perfect. The coffee was strong and smooth, and the sandwich was exactly what I needed.
While I was eating, I just sat there, watching people go by. Tourists, locals, surfers with their boards – it was a real mix of everything. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and I just soaked it all in.

After I finished eating, I decided to take a walk on the beach. The sun was shining, the waves were crashing, and the air was fresh and salty. I just kicked off my shoes and strolled along the sand, enjoying the peace and quiet.
It wasn’t a grand adventure or anything, but that “Breakfast in Waikiki” was exactly what I needed. A simple, unplanned escape from the everyday grind. Sometimes, the best things in life are the spontaneous ones. I drove back home feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. I’d definitely do that again!
