Alright, so the plan was set: a little getaway to Lake George. Didn’t want one of those big, faceless hotels this time. Felt like trying a bed and breakfast, something a bit more personal, you know? Figured it’d be quieter, maybe even get some decent breakfast thrown in without having to fight crowds.

Starting the Hunt
First thing I did was hop on the computer. Just typed in the obvious stuff, “lake george bed and breakfast”, “places to stay lake george b&b”, that sort of thing. Man, you get a lot of results back. Websites everywhere, all showing fancy pictures. Some looked like they were straight out of a magazine, probably cost an arm and a leg too.
Spent a good hour or so just scrolling through listings. Some were right downtown, looked convenient but maybe noisy. Others were way out in the sticks, probably peaceful but meant driving everywhere. Had to figure out what we actually wanted.
Narrowing It Down
Made a little list of what mattered:
- Location: Wanted to be reasonably close to the lake, maybe walk to a few spots, but not right in the middle of the tourist traps.
- Price: Had a budget in mind. Didn’t need gold-plated faucets, just clean and comfortable.
- Vibe: Tried to get a feel from the pictures and descriptions. Was looking for cozy, not rundown or super modern. Real people running it, ideally.
- Breakfast: Hey, it’s in the name, right? Hoped for something more than a stale muffin.
Started clicking into the ones that looked promising. Read some descriptions. Some places had shared bathrooms – nah, not for me. Crossed those off right away. Others had minimum stays, like three nights or more, which didn’t fit our quick trip. Filtered those out too.
Making the Pick and Booking
After a while, I had it down to maybe two or three places. One looked particularly nice, sort of classic Adirondack style. Pictures showed a nice porch, decent-looking rooms. The price was okay, not cheap, but seemed fair for the area, especially during the season we were looking at.
Decided to just go for it. Instead of booking through one of those giant travel websites, I found the B&B’s own phone number. Figured it’s better to talk to a real person sometimes. Gave them a ring.
A woman answered, sounded friendly enough. Asked about the dates, availability, confirmed the price. Asked a quick question about parking, which she answered straight up. No messing around. Took my details down over the phone, gave me a confirmation number. Simple as that.

All Set
So yeah, that’s how I landed the B&B booking for Lake George. Took a bit of sifting through options online, figuring out what was important, and then just making a call. Now just gotta pack the bags and hope the place is as nice as it looked online. Should be a good little trip.
